Cornerstone for Women Leaders Brings Customized On-Site Training to Trade School Students

Hagerstown, MD – Cornerstone for Women Leaders expanded its reach into technical education with its first customized on-site training at Award Beauty, a Hagerstown-based trade school. The training focused on work-life balance and values-based leadership, equipping women preparing to enter the beauty industry with tools to thrive both personally and professionally.

The session, designed in collaboration with school administrators, addressed the unique challenges faced by women in cosmetology and related trades. These professionals often serve as trusted confidants to their clients, listening to problems, offering encouragement, and providing care that goes far beyond their technical skills. Without formal training in counseling, however, many experience burnout, compassion fatigue, and role strain. Cornerstone’s program provided strategies rooted in biblical principles to offer practical, faith-informed instruction to support healthy leadership and a balanced lifestyle.

“Leadership development shouldn’t be reserved for those already in management,” said Shadae Paul, President & CEO of Cornerstone for Women Leaders. “By equipping women at the very beginning of their careers, especially in trades where creativity, technical expertise, and emotional intelligence intersect, we’re helping them step into the workforce as leaders who can influence their environments for good from day one.”

This training marks a significant step for Cornerstone’s model of professional development: a faith-based, women-led organization serving corporate employees and tradespeople alike. While leadership programs often focus on executives or office-based professionals, Cornerstone affirms that the trades are just as vital.

By introducing faith-based leadership training into a trade school setting, Cornerstone has demonstrated a unique and replicable model, one that values the dignity of all work and provides women with tools to lead well across industries.
