Women Leaders from Across the Tristate Gather in Frederick for Sold-Out "Flourish" Event

Hagerstown, MD – Cornerstone for Women Leaders, in partnership with Apply It Consulting, LLC and Young Consulting Services, LLC, – three women-led organizations – hosted Flourish on Thursday, November 13, welcoming more than 50 women leaders from across Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

The event theme, “Fearless & Faithful: Courageous Women Leaders,” centered on building community. The sold-out evening brought together leaders from healthcare, education, finance, government, nonprofits, the trades, and small business for an immersive evening.

“Flourish is a faith-driven leadership initiative designed to equip, strengthen, and unite women leaders through community, spiritual formation, and practical leadership development,” said Cornerstone for Women Leaders President & CEO, Shadae Paul. “The energy, honesty, and encouragement shared throughout the event reminded us that women thrive when they are supported by community.”

“On November 13 at Flourish, I realized how much real progress depends on creating spaces where I—and others—can feel seen, supported, and brave enough to show up fully,” said Sophia Evans, founder of Apply It Consulting.

To give back to the local Frederick community, ten percent of ticket sales was donated to support Faith House at the Frederick Rescue Mission, which focuses on helping women transition from trauma and homelessness with workforce development training.

A powerful panel of professional women gave us wisdom and direction on topics around “busyness,” “representing your faith in the workplace,” “moving from fear to faith,” and how to empower the next generation of women.

“I loved and appreciated the opportunity to work with like-minded faith business leaders and to provide a safe space for our participants to both worship and learn from each other. I'm excited to see this event grow in other areas around the state,” said Corae Young, founder of Young Consulting Services, LLC.

The panel members included: Dr. Nicole Davis, Founder & President of the Maryland Christian Chamber of Commerce; Sandra Hofmeister, President & Owner of A&S Construction, a women- and minority-owned firm; and Mary Davis Holt, New York Times bestselling author and Principal of Mary Davis Holt Enterprises, a consulting firm, and former Senior Executive Vice President and COO of Time Life, Inc.

The evening also included signature mocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live music led by renowned jazz and blues vocalist Kendra Johnson.

“I’ll always remember this event for the remarkable unity demonstrated by everyone who attended,” said Glendora Green, an attendee.
The event was made possible through the generous support of community sponsors.
